WHAT DOES GSM MEAN?

The standard measurement for weight and quality of fabrics is grams per square meter, usually abbreviated as GSM. This is the accepted standard in the United States as well as in foreign countries. Bath towels vary widely from150 to 700 GSM; other fabrics may have values as low as 100 GSM. The same units are used for toilet paper and other tissues (18 to 22 GSM is typical) as well as paper towels (35 to 50 GSM is typical). Many over the counter microfibers are as low as 150 GSM.

WHAT IS POLYAMIDE?

The combination of polyamide and polyester creates the microfiber's effectiveness. A typical 80/20 blend (80% polyester, 20% polyamide) is considered a high-quality ratio because it balances the scrubbing and durability of polyester with the absorbency and softness of polyamide. Towels with a lower percentage of polyamide are generally of lower quality and less absorbent.
